چکیده

Many topology-dependent transmission scheduling algorithms have been proposed to minimize the time-division multiple-access frame length in multihop packet radio networks (MPRNs), in which changes of the topology inevitably require recomputation of the schedules. The need for constant adaptation of schedules-to-mobile topology entails significant problems, especially in the highly dynamic mobile environments. Hence, topology-transparent scheduling algorithms have been proposed, which utilize Galois field theory and Latin squares theory. In this paper, we discuss the topology-transparent broadcast scheduling design for MPRNs. For single-channel networks, we propose the modified Galois field design (MGD) and the Latin square design (LSD) for topology-transparent broadcast scheduling. The MGD obtains much smaller minimum frame length (MFL) than the existing scheme while the LSD can even achieve possible performance gain when compared with the MGD, under certain conditions. Moreover, the inner relationship between scheduling designs based on different theories is revealed and proved, which provides valuable insight. For the topology-transparent broadcast scheduling in multichannel networks, in which little research has been done, the proposed multichannel Galois field design (MCGD) can reduce the MFL approximately times, as compared with the MGD when channels are available. Numerical results show that the proposed algorithms outperform existing algorithms in achieving a smaller MFL.

Topology-Independent Link Activation Scheduling Schemes in Mobile CDMA Packet Radio Networks

In this paper, we study topology-independent link activation (TILA) transmission scheduling protocols for multihop code-division multiple-access (CDMA) packet radio networks. We focus on quality-ofservice (QoS) provisioning for each communication link, particularly when node mobility is considered. We examine the requirements of link activation (LA) transmission scheduling, and show that block ...

Efficient Time-Based Topology-Dependent Scheduling for Radio Packet Networks∗

In Radio Packet Network (RPN), unconstrained transmission may lead to collision of two or more packets. Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) protocol is a common used protocol to schedule collision-free transmission for such networks. TDMA transmission allows a number of users to access a single radio channel without interference by allocating unique time slots to each user. In TDMA network, ti...

Multihop packet scheduling in WDM/TDM networks with nonnegligible transceiver tuning times

This paper addresses the design of packet transmission schedules in photonic slotted wavelength-division multiplexing/time-division multiplexing broadcast-and-select networks with wavelengths and nodes. Nodes are equipped with one tunable-wavelength transmitter with nonnegligible tuning times and one fixed-wavelength receiver. A new scheduling algorithm that exploits multihop packet transfer to...

Computational Time-Division and Code-Division Channel Access Scheduling in Ad Hoc Networks

Using two-hop neighborhood information, we present the hybrid activation multiple access (HAMA) protocol for time-division channel access scheduling in ad hoc networks with omni-directional antennas. Different from other approaches, HAMA is a node-activation channel access protocol that also maximizes the chance of link activations using timeand code-division schemes. The throughput and delay c...
